Just want to say hi and good to see you.
Good to see you too, snowbird. Long time no see!
i ask, because a neighboring congregation of where i used to attend was dissolved, and the people from there were scattered about to whatever congregation was closest.
but it turns out that they still meet at the old kingdom hall a couple times a week, for field service.
apparently this is done for tax purposes.. i suppose from a fiscal standpoint it makes sense, though it seems a little deceitful.

I suppose from a fiscal standpoint it makes sense, though it seems a little deceitful. It does beg the question, though: Why dissolve the congregation in the first place?
i had a couple of jw sisters call at my door today.. they started with the bizarre "can we read you a scripture" and read about "death being no more" and asked what i thought of that.. i said it sounded like a mix of disney and dumb.. they then launched into how god was going to put an end to death and wasn't that wonderful?.
i said it would have been more wonderful if he'd not created death in the first place.. they thought man created death by disobeying so i questioned why god couldn't have just forgiven them.
apparently "because he loves us" is supposed to be a satisfactory answer to why he kills us.. i asked how loving it was to kill hundreds of thousands of children in tsunami's, disease and so on.. at this point, they gave up on the 'god is love' and switched to the bible being true no matter what because it was an old book and moses had written the first chapter (says the book).. when i suggested it really wasn't that old and that most of the bible myths were copies of older stories from before it was written they questioned if i studied the bible and theology.. then i told them i was brought up as a jw so knew it was all crap.. now it was game on, they immediately switched to play defence questioning why i'd left (and i think they'd already taken a step back away from "the evil" obviously emanating from me).. not much time to say much before they cut and run so i told them i'd left because i found out it was all based on lies and that the watchtower was corrupt and covered up things like child abuse.. oh no, you're thinking of the catholics one of them said (some disdain in how she said "catholics" as though "we're so much better than them").. "well, i challenge you to do a search for the australian royal commission and you'll see the testimony the watchtower leaders gave and the damning evidence that they covered up abuse and reported none of it to the police.".
And they were gone.
Let me guess: They wanted to stay and talk with you longer, but they had people waiting in the car for them.
i feel relieved to spend that time doing anything else but sitting in a stadium for 8 hours with only an hour break listening to the same talks i've been hearing since i was a child.
not to mention trying to keep my young boys quiet so i wouldnt get the evil looks in my section😂😂.
lot of walking was going on for us to try and tire them out.
i don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.
basically, everything must change.
we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).
What is the ultimate goal now?
Probably to hope their antidepressant meds keep them functional enough to stay above the national average.

He also once said that Trayvon Martin was killed so that his organs could be harvested, and that black women should have as many children as possible and live off welfare.
Don't spend too much time trying to analyze him.
i had posted about a month ago that my niece, who just turned 15, was getting disfellowshipped.
i learned this past weekend that she tried to commit suicide.
between being df'd, and her dad not being around, it became too much for her.
I think she was disfellowshipped first and then became suicidal due to the disfellowshipping.
Yes, that's correct. There was really no hint before that she might be suicidal.
Could you subtly point out to your sister that further involvement in the organization wluld likely be bad fof her mental health?
Unfortunately, her response to all of this, rather than objectively examine the effects such a high-control religion has on young people, is to pull her two younger children out of school and have them homeschooled.
This is why baptizing those under 18 yrs of age should not be allowedÂ
Indeed. My niece was only 11 when she was baptized. The prospect that someone so young is somehow in position to make a lifetime commitment is beyond ridiculous.
many people find it difficult to reconcile suffering and existence of god.
it seems they feel that it is god’s obligation to shield humans from ill-effects of their short-sighted acts..
people’s hobby has something to do with this kind of reasoning!
Cult recruitment 101: save the distasteful stuff for later.
Yeah. At least the JWs have the good sense to indoctrinate you before revealing how batshit crazy they are.

Can l ask what is her Mother's take on this ?
At this point, I think she just wants her daughter to be healthy and happy. And she knows from personal experience how cruel the disfellowshipping process is.
She'll never leave the organization, but that has more to do with her dependency on her family and friends than it does her belief that it's "the truth". And the fact that she's ok with her daughter associating with me and my fiancé is very telling.

Thank goodness that she has the sense and courage to walk away as soon as she can
I can't tell you how proud of her I am that she can see through the bs at such a young age. It took me until I was in my 20's. Too bad it took being treated so cruelly by an organization she believed to be so loving.
Keep encouraging her in her plans.
I intend to, even though I know I need to tread carefully. She's also grown close to my fiancé. We're both trying to show her that she has the world at her feet, and doesn't have to be shackled by the JW religion.
The irony of it is, that because of her being disfellowhipped, we're the only ones who will have any association with her, and are the only ones, other than her mother, influencing her.
